Are you a child, teenager or adult who struggles with reading, writing or comprehension?

Have you noticed behaviors that you don’t understand and don’t make sense to you?

“In elementary school I was first in my classes, and I had friends. In high school they make fun of me because I sometimes bring the wrong notebooks to class, because I’m late in answering questions, and because I don’t play soccer but sit behind the taps and play with my cell phone. I like a girl, but she got angry with me when I told her something. What’s wrong with me? Why do I have to go to a psychologist?”

“Since I was little, I felt different from other kids. Growing up, I faced difficulties in completing my studies and collaborating with colleagues at work. Do I really have something? Who am I? Can I do something about it?”

Understanding The Complexity of Mental & Learning Difficulties

Parents and adults often search for answers in a maze of information (often conflicting) on the internet and in books. Children and adolescents with difficulties realize that, for some reason they are different from others. Sometimes they ask their parents what’s wrong with them? Other times, they don’t express themselves but instead exhibit emotional tension, difficult behaviors, or low self-esteem, a tendency to isolate themselves. When there are other siblings in the family, things often become more complicated.  Siblings may receive less attention than they need. Some adopt the parental role and take on more responsibility for their sibling’s behaviors than is appropriate for their age.
